Man Charged in Serious South Dakota Bicycle Accident

A local man has been charged in connection with a bicycle crash that sent an individual to the hospital on Sunday, May 8, 2011. The man appears to have been intoxicated at the time of the wreck.

David Allan Kinner, 55, was under the influence of prescription drugs when he struck and seriously injured a bicyclist in an intersection. Kinner has been charged with DWI and vehicular battery.

Kinner was trying to make a turn at an intersection when he struck 23-year-old James Thomas McInnes near a crosswalk. Kinner was at fault in the crash.

McInnes was seriously injured in the accident. He was taken to a Sioux Falls hospital with a life-threatening head injury. Kinner was taken promptly to jail.
