Man Killed in Pedestrian-Truck Accident in Sioux Falls

An accident between a pickup truck and a pedestrian in the parking lot of an area business has left one person dead. The accident happened on Thursday, April 28, 2011, at 5501 W. 9th Street in Sioux Falls.

According to police, a 74-year-old man was backing his pickup truck out of the parking lot of Zabel Steel when he ran over 59-year-old Hartford resident Jonathan Nels Hall.

Hall worked for Zabel Steel, and was in charge of directing vehicles in and out of the parking lot. The pickup truck driver, who did not see Hall before the accident, is a Sioux Falls resident and regular customer.

Hall was taken to nearby Sanford Hospital, where he later died. Police say that the 74-year-old man driving the pickup truck will not be charged in the accident.
