One Killed in South Dakota Truck Accident

Snowy and icy conditions led to a fatal car-truck accident on Highway 46 outside of Irene, South Dakota. The crash occurred around 11 a.m. on Monday, January 31, 2011.

A passenger van, driven by 64-year-old Veronica Terzona, of Yankton, spun out of control and slid into the path of an oncoming pickup truck, driven by 62-year-old Craig Anthony, of Irene.

When the two vehicles collided, 69-year-old Ray Terzona, of Yankton, was thrown from the van. He was not wearing a seat belt, and was killed as a result of the impact.

The driver of the van, Veronica Terzona, suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries in the crash. Anthony, who was driving the pickup truck, suffered life-threatening injuries.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. Our sympathies and thoughts go out to all of those who were involved in this fatal wreck.
