A Rapid City, SD woman was killed on Sunday, July 3, 2011, in a motorcycle wreck outside of Keystone. The crash occurred at about 4 p.m.
Nicole Dunn, 29, was riding on a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle driven by 31-year-old Ryan Wiechmann on U.S. Highway 16A when Wiechmann tried to move from the right lane to the left to pass slower traffic.
Unfortunately, a vehicle driven by 33-year-old Jason Garza, of Phoenix, AZ, was in the left lane waiting to take a left turn. Wiechmann ran right into the rear of the stopped car.
Dunn was thrown from the bike in the collision. She was struck by 60-year-old David Leitchmann, of Savage, MN, who was traveling in the other direction. Dunn was killed in the collision.
Traffic was slowed in both directions for two hours after the accident. No charges have been filed, but the accident remains under investigation.
Our condolences go out to the family of the deceased in this sad accident. Our thoughts also go out to all others affected.
