On the evening of Sunday, July 17, 2011, 44-year-old Jamey Wuestewald, of Yankton, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after his vehicle rolled over. There were four passengers in the car, and the accident seriously injured one of them.
The accident took place around 6 p.m. on Marindahl Road east of 446th Avenue. The seriously injured passenger was a 20-year-old male, and he was flown to Avera McKennan in Sioux Falls for treatment of his life-threatening injuries. The other passengers sustained minor injuries, and they were taken to Avera Sacred Heart Hospital.
Along with driving under the influence, Wuestewald was charged with vehicular battery and felony hit and run/injury accident.
