According to a sad report from KDLT News, another fatal motorcycle accident recently took place on I-29, claiming the lives of two people and leaving one driver with serious injuries. According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, the accident took place on Saturday, August 3, 2013, in the construction zone near Brookings.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol says that Leonard Feltmann and Janis Feltmann, both age 61, were travelling south in heavy traffic on I-29 and were killed when the motorcycle Mr. Feltmann was operating cut into the northbound lane for an unknown reason and collided with a Chevrolet Uplander. Tragically, Leonard and Janis Feltmann, of Brandon, were both pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. In addition, Lynne Louise Duin, the driver of the Uplander, reportedly sustained serious injuries in the wreck, and she was transferred to a hospital in Sioux Falls. There have been no further updates about her condition.
Every summer, riders are seriously injured or killed in motorcycle accidents on I-29 and other South Dakota roadways, and the roads can be especially dangerous if there are complicating factors like construction or heavy traffic.
