On the morning of Friday, March 28, 2014, one driver was injured in a wreck at the intersection of 474th Avenue and 244th Street, just north of Dell Rapids. While no identifying information had yet been released at the time of the initial report, the driver is said to have sustained serious injuries, but those injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. No further updates on the driver’s condition is currently available.
According to reports, the driver was eastbound on 244th Street in a white car. The car reportedly stopped for the stop sign at the intersection with 474th Street, also known as “Old 77 Highway” to locals, but then continued through the intersection. A truck with an attached trailer was traveling north on 474th Street at the time and collided with the white car. According to the Sgt. Pete Jaros, of the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, the truck driver said that the driver “pulled right out in front of him” in the intersection. The truck collided with the broadside of the car.
Aside from the injuries to the driver in the passenger car, no other injuries were reported in the accident. The truck driver was able to walk away after the wreck, and the driver of the white car was transported to the hospital for treatment.
The team at Zimmer, Duncan & Cole, LLP, hope that the driver injured in this Friday morning accident is able to recover fully and quickly, and our thoughts are with the family and loved ones in this difficult time.
